EEA Grants Environment Programme team participates in Field Visit in Bergen, Norway

The EEA Grants Portugal Environment Programme team's field visit to Bergen, Norway, began today as part of the ‘Proptech Innovation & Sustainable Habitat Cluster’ networking meeting.

This visit, which takes place on 10 and 11 September 2024, aims to promote sustainable innovation and the reuse of materials in construction. This event is a collaboration between Norway's Proptech Innovation cluster and Portugal's Sustainable Habitat Cluster.

The EEA Grants Protugal environment programme was represented by Susana Escária, Pedro Gomes and Nuno Tomé, accompanied by Maria Mineiro, Coordinator of the EEA Grants National Management Unit and Filipa Rodrigues.

The day's agenda began with a morning session at Media City Bergen, where Proptech Innovation's green transition initiatives were discussed, with a special focus on its material reuse projects.

Among the projects presented were Kontiki, which integrates reusable materials into standard construction processes, and Pantheon, which sets standards for the reuse of concrete elements.

The importance of this visit lies in the exchange of knowledge between Portugal and Norway, with the aim of boosting sustainability in the construction sector. Victor Ferreira, representing the Sustainable Habitat Cluster, presented Portuguese initiatives, emphasising the importance of international collaboration in developing sustainable solutions.

In the afternoon, the team visited the Pantheon pilot project site, where they explored the first stages of reusing concrete elements from buildings, an innovative practice that is shaping the future of the circular economy in the construction sector.

This visit underlines the EEA Grants' commitment to fostering innovation and sustainability, promoting good practices and creating links between clusters in different countries.

Tomorrow, September 11, the delegation will continue its visit with a varied programme.
