Environment Programme takes part in ‘Business Cooperation and the European Green Deal’ event organised by Innovation Norway

The two-day event, which takes place at the Grand Hotel Millennium Sofia in Bulgaria, brings together 100 of the greenest and most innovative companies from Central/Southern Europe, Norway and Iceland to discuss business opportunities within the European Green Deal.

The European Green Deal
Presented by the European Commission in December 2019, the European Green Deal aims to turn climate and environmental challenges into opportunities for various policy areas, creating ample possibilities for European companies to develop new technologies and sustainable solutions. The aim is to generate value and contribute to the objectives of the pact by promoting business cooperation in green solutions and exploiting synergies between projects funded by the EEA and Norway Grants, as well as European and national funding schemes.

Thematic Sessions
The event is organised into four main thematic sessions:

  • The Role of Carbon Capture and Storage
  • Digitalisation of the Sustainable Blue Economy
  • Raw Materials
  • Hydrogen for the Decarbonisation of Transport

Participants
The event is held in cooperation with 12 partners from the EEA Business and Innovation Programme and Norway Grants and brings together:

Companies, clusters, associations, research institutes and other stakeholders from Northern and Central/Southern Europe, including Bulgaria, Croatia, Estonia, Greece, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania and Slovakia.
Representatives of the main innovation agencies from the 12 partner countries

Matchmaking session
A matchmaking session will be held, allowing entrepreneurs, scaleup professionals, researchers, investors and other interested parties to schedule meetings with other companies from across Europe via the B2Match online platform.

The EEA and Norway Grants
The EEA and Norway Grants support Business Development, Innovation and SME programmes in Europe, with the aim of increasing competitiveness, value creation and cooperation with Norway. This funding represents Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein's contribution to reducing social and economic disparities and strengthening co-operation in Europe.

This event promises to be a vital platform for promoting collaboration and the development of sustainable solutions.
