Final Event of the Environment Program: The Impact of Applied Innovation on the Community

Final event of the Environment Programme, focused on applied innovation, bringing together experts to discuss the impact of initiatives in combating climate change and the low-carbon economy within the community.

On December 11, 2024, the Século Room at the Secretary General for the Environment will host the final event of the Environment Programme, focused on applied innovation. The event will bring together experts to discuss the impact of initiatives in combating climate change and fostering a low-carbon economy within communities.

The official opening will feature an address by the Secretary-General for the Environment, Marco Rebelo, who will highlight the importance of the Programme in promoting sustainability in Portugal. Maria Mineiro, Coordinator of the National Management Unit, and Hanne Brusletto, Ambassador of Norway to Portugal, will also participate.

The program includes a presentation by Joana Tadeu, the "Imperfect Environmentalist," who will discuss the initiatives implemented throughout the program and the results achieved.

After a brief break, the event will continue with a panel moderated by Filipe Luís, journalist from Visão. The panel, titled “The Other Side of the Programme: What Perspectives?”, will feature Ana Salgueiro from Ana Salgueiro Consulting, Magnar Odelien from Innovation Norway, and Nuno Lacasta from the AdaPT Program. These speakers will discuss lessons learned and future perspectives on innovation in the context of climate change, addressing both successes and challenges encountered.

The event will also include a screening of a video titled “The Other Side of the Projects,” presenting testimonials from beneficiaries of the Programme and showcasing the real-world impacts of the initiatives implemented.

The closing address will be given by Emídio Sousa, Secretary of State for the Environment. The event will culminate with a lunch, providing participants with an opportunity to network and exchange ideas.

To enrich the experience, the lunch will feature music and poetry performances by Luís Barrigas and Leonor Costa.
