On June 19, at the Cruise Terminal of the Port of Leixões, it were presented the the projects for Prevention and Awareness for the reduction of marine waste.
The event was attended by the Minister of Environment and Climate Action, João Pedro Matos Fernandes, Secretary of State for Planning José Gomes Mendes, the Norwegian Ambassador to Portugal, Anders Erdal, the Coordinator of the National Unit for the Management of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area and National Focal Point, Susana Ramos and the Secretary General for the Environment, Alexandra Carvalho.
The session also included a presentation of the challenges of the importance of preventing marine plastic waste by Ana Pêgo, Marine Biologist at the Faculty of Marine and Environmental Sciences, University of Algarve and Founder of Plasticus Maritimus and Paula Sobral, PhD in Environmental Sciences , Professor at the Faculty of Science and Technology at New University of Lisbon (Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering) and researcher at MARE - Center for Marine and Environmental Sciences.
