Second day of the bilateral EEA Grants Environment Programme initiative in Bergen, focused on the circular economy

Today, the EEA Grants Portugal delegation concluded the second and final day of the bilateral initiative in Bergen, Norway, with an agenda focussed on the practical application of sustainable concepts in construction.

Represented by Susana Escária, Pedro Gomes, Nuno Tomé, Maria Mineiro and Filipa Rodrigues, the Portuguese team took part in various activities, consolidating international cooperation for the development of innovative solutions in the construction sector.

The morning began with a visit to the Føniks project, which aims to achieve almost 100 per cent reuse of materials in the construction of new buildings. This visit offered a unique insight into how circular construction concepts can be turned into practical solutions, demonstrating the feasibility of using recycled materials on a large scale. The project is located at Damsgårdsveien 127 and is a benchmark in promoting circular economy practices in the construction sector.

The day ended with a session where companies and start-ups, both Norwegian and Portuguese, had the opportunity to share their innovations in the property and sustainable construction sector. This session highlighted the diversity of innovative solutions that are emerging in both Norway and Portugal.

Among the topics covered were digital technologies for the property sector and sustainable solutions for construction.

The day ended with a networking dinner, providing an informal setting to discuss potential collaborations between members of the Portuguese delegation and the ‘Proptech Innovation’ community.

This two-day bilateral initiative reinforced the importance of international co-operation in promoting sustainability and innovation in the construction sector, strengthening the ties between Portugal and Norway within the framework of the EEA Grants.
